The NSW Government has a new compliance requirement. The legislation in question is:
Section 81A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment (Development Certification and Fire Safety) Amendment (Fire Safety) Regulation 2022
This requires certain buildings to comply with Australian Standard 1851-2012 – The Routine Service of Fire Protection Systems and Equipment from 13th of February 2025.
This includes Evacuation Equipment, Evacuation Diagrams, Emergency Procedures and Training.
Additionally, the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 requires a person conducting a business or undertaking at a workplace to maintain and implement an emergency plan.
